Honorary doctorate nominees sought
The CSU Chancellor's Office is calling
for nominations of individuals to receive honorary doctoral
degrees from the CSU Board of Trustees.
The honorary doctorates are awarded in five categories: fine
arts, humane letters, law, letters and science. Nominations
from faculty, staff, students and the community are welcome
and must be accompanied by a current curriculum vita and a
letter detailing the nominee's qualifications for the award.
Previous recipients from CSUS campus include: Albert S. Rodda,
doctor of laws, May 1987; Nathaniel S. Colley Sr., doctor
of laws, May 1988; Lou Harrison, doctor of fine arts, May
1993; Tom Hanks, doctor of fine arts, May 1996; George Perle,
doctor of fine arts, May 1996; Anna Deavere Smith, doctor
of fine arts, May 1996; Frederico Mayor, doctor of laws, July
1996; Sisbusiso M. E. Bengu, doctor of laws, July 1996; Heitor
Gurgulino de Souza, doctor of laws, July 1996; Angelo K. Tsakopoulos,
doctor of humane letters, May 1998; Steven Lee Yamshon, doctor
of humane letters, May 1999; Dorothy Stevens Enomoto, doctor
of humane letters, May 2001; and Grantland Johnson, doctor
of humane letters, May 2001.
Nomination forms and guidelines are available in Sacramento
Hall 220. The deadline to submit nominations is 5 p.m., Monday,
