Sacramento State hosts Percussion Day

The Sacramento Valley will soon be alive with the sound of music as Sacramento State hosts its annual "Day of Percussion." The event will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 in Capistrano Hall and continue into the evening.

The percussion studies program will present a number of guest artists including Jack van Geem of the San Francisco Symphony, conga virtuoso Michael Spiro, and the critically acclaimed Australian-based Percussion Duo of Alison Edington and Daryl Pratt. The event will also feature such local talent as the Sacramento State Percussion Group, the University of Pacific Percussion Ensemble, the University of Nevada Reno Marimba Quartet, and several student ensembles.

The all-day event will showcase dozens of musicians demonstrating their expertise in an array of recitals and performances. Individuals are invited to participate in a variety of hands-on experiences through a number of workshops. The day's events will conclude with an evening showcase concert featuring several guest performers

A variety of percussion instruments, accessories and music will be on display and for display and for sale. Door prizes will also be given away through a raffle.
