Community contractors have been called out for an old fashioned "barn raising" on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to build the new California State University, Sacramento Alumni Center.
"A barn raising is a fun way to provide camaraderie for the crews and to get a jump start on the framing of the building," says alumnus John Messner of Harbison Mahony and Higgins, the general contractor. Messner helped convince various members of the Associated General Contractors to take on the building as their pro bono project for the year, and HMH organized volunteer labor and donated materials.
Materials will be provided at the building site, located near Hornet Stadium. The CSUS Alumni Board of Directors will serve a light breakfast for more than 100 workers in the morning and a barbeque in the afternoon.
More information is available by contacting Alumni Relations at (916) 278-6290.
