California State University, Sacramento will roll out the red carpet during a special evening of theater, Saturday, April 8 in the University Theatre.
The CSUS Alumni Association's Night at the Theatre will begin at 6 p.m. with a light buffet and silent auction followed by an 8 p.m. performance of The Boyfriend. After the play there will be a backstage cabaret gala featuring dessert, champagne, coffee and entertainment. Tickets are $25.
Theatre memorabilia, and one-of-a-kind treasures from late CSUS professor Gerard Larson's personal collection, will be sold during the silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the department of theatre and dance scholarship fund. Prize giveaways will include dinner and theater packages.
Set in the early jazz era The Boyfriend is a humorous and romantic spoof of a 1920s musical comedy. Tina Cole, best known as Katie on the television show "My Three Sons," will be a guest performer.
The Boyfriend production is one of many events during the weeklong CSUS Festival of the Arts, April 1 - 9. The Night at the Theatre event is co-sponsored by the CSUS theater and dance alumni chapter.
