Relaxing evenings of music are on tap during five summer concerts at California State University, Sacramento during the free 1999 Outdoor Summer Concert Series.
Mumbo Gumbo, one of the area's favorite bands, performs at 6 p.m., July 24. This concert, sponsored by CSUS and the East Sacramento Pops in the Parks Committee, will be held in the Main Quad, near the J Street entrance to the campus.
Other bands to be featured in the series are the CSUS Summer Concert Band, the Travis Air Force Base Commander's Jazz Ensemble, and the Travis Air Force Base Golden West Ramblers.
This year the free series features special pre-concerts for children by the California Brass. They will perform at 5:45 p.m., July 3 and Aug. 21.
Other than Mumbo Gumbo, the concerts take place at 6:30 p.m. at the CSUS Outdoor Theater, near the University Library. Attendees are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets.
Free parking will be available in the parking garage near the music building.
