Geneticist Marcus Feldman will talk about the "History and Implications of the Chinese Family Planning Program" at noon, Tuesday, April 4 at California State University, Sacramento in the University Union Hinde Auditorium.
For the last 10 years, Feldman has been studying the often drastic measures China has undertaken to control its enormous population, including one child per family restrictions. Using mathematical models, he's also made predictions about the long-term consequences of such actions on China's workforce, its economy and even its gender balance.
Feldman is the director of Stanford University's Morrison Institute for Population and Resource Studies and is the Wohlford Professor in the School of Humanities and Science. He has published several articles on genetics and evolution.
