Hmong Family Journey
Chronicled In Photograph Exhibit
A discussion and exhibit of Hmong photographs and artifacts continues the Year of Unity celebration at California State University, Sacramento. The event will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 30 in University Archives in the library.
"A Hmong Family Album: Pictures of a Journey" is an account of CSUS student Pheng Vang family's journey from a refugee camp in Thailand to Sacramento during the close of the Vietnam War.
"This exhibit offers a unique perspective that is often not told, that of the Southeast Asia migration to the United States," says Pam Macas of University Archives. "Visitors will be able to see personal artifacts from the journey and gain a sense of the hardships that the families faced," says Macas.
This story of survival and courage will include a showing of a documentary film on the Hmong immigration to America. An open discussion and sharing of personal stories will follow the film. There will also be refreshments, music and poetry.
The program and exhibit are free. For more information contact University Archives at (916) 278-6144.
