CSUS Homecoming 2000:
Special Events, Alumni Center Opening

Homecoming 2000 at California State University, Sacramento has mushroomed into more than an annual celebration of the University's alumni and one of the biggest football games of the year.

This year, the weekend has grown into a week of special events Oct. 8-14, all helping to serve as an official campus welcome for the new Steven Lee Yamshon Alumni Center.

The week begins with a fun run on Oct. 8 and ends with a pre-game party and homecoming football game on Oct. 14. In between will be academic forums, the annual Honor's Luncheon, the official Alumni Center opening, and an Alumni Association 50th anniversary party. There will also be a series of student "Spirit Week" events, including a campus dance, a bonfire the night before the homecoming game and a tug-of-war tournament that concludes during halftime of the game.

The homecoming football game, vs. Montana State, is at 6:05 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 at Hornet Stadium.

4 p.m. - Forum: law enforcement consolidation, Alumni Center

Tuesday, Oct. 10

4 p.m. - Forum: media and party politics in America, Alumni Center

4:30 p.m. - Forum: "First Day of School" video series, Alumni Center

Wednesday, Oct. 11

All day - Banner contest

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Alumni Center Open House and Tours

4 p.m. - Forum: endangered species and development, Alumni Center

4 p.m. - Forum: personal view of vocational rehabilitation, Alumni Center

Thursday, Oct. 12

5:30 p.m. - "Top Ticket in Town," Alumni Business Chapter mixer, Alumni Center

Friday, Oct. 13

11:30 a.m. - Alumni Honors Luncheon, Alumni Center

6:30 p.m. to midnight - Alumni Association 50th Anniversary Gala, Alumni Center

7:30 p.m. - Bonfire rally, south parking lot (lot 10)

8 p.m. to midnight - "Time Warp" campus dance, University Union

Saturday, Oct. 14

10 a.m. - Wilma Allerton Memorial dedication, Alumni Center

11:30 a.m. - Steven Lee Yamshon Alumni Center dedication, Alumni Center

2 p.m. - Ron Smith Memorial dedication, Alumni Center

4 to 6 p.m. - Homecoming pre-game party, Alumni Center
