Following a campuswide recruitment effort, Marilyn Hopkins has been appointed as the interim dean of the College of Health and Human Services, President Donald R. Gerth announced today. The appointment is effective this summer.
She is currently serving as the associate dean of the College of Health and Human Services and holds a tenured professorship in the division of nursing. Hopkins earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from CSUS. Her master's and doctorate degrees were earned at the University of California, San Francisco.
She also serves as the program or project director for several University-community grants totaling over $600,000.00.
Hopkins brings to the position 23 years of teaching experience in the areas of professional issues and ethics, research, theory development, and medical-surgical nursing. She also has expertise in various forms of distance and distributive education.
In making the appointment, Gerth said, "I look forward to working with Dr. Hopkins as she assumes leadership for the College of Health and Human Services. I want to thank the members of the Selection Advisory Committee for their dedicated service in assisting in the search. Their willingness to give of their time and energy during the busiest time of the academic year is appreciated."
