A California State University, Sacramento program that promotes the health and well-being of seniors is offering low-cost fitness classes at the University's Julia Morgan House, 3731 T St. Morgan is known for designing Hearst Castle.
The LIFE Center offers courses in strength, circuit training, stretch, 50-plus aerobics and even country line dancing. Programs are designed to help people prevent disease, increase fitness and maintain physical and mental health. Through the center's Fall Risk Reduction program, seniors will attend classes designed to increase flexibility, strength, coordination and balance.
Classes are open to Sacramento adults ages 50 and older. College of Health and Human Services faculty and staff are overseeing the program. Students within the College are interning at the center.
In the fall, a Celebration of LIFE event will be held in support of the center. The gala will have wine and food tasting, entertainment and a silent auction. It will be held from 6 - 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7 at the Morgan House. Admission is $50. For tickets call (916) 278-7255.
The Julia Morgan House was donated to the University by Sacramento philanthropist Charles M. Goethe. The home was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. A restoration of the 1924 home is nearly completed.
