'Movin' to Motown' Launches
New Season of Dance
A salute to one of music's most successful music labels kicks of the 19th season of Dale School Dance/Art, Nov. 1-4, 10-11, and 17-18 at California State University, Sacramento.
"Movin' to Motown" will feature four new works performed to the music of Motown legends including the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and the Pips and the Jackson Five. All performances will be at 8 p.m. in the Dancespace in Solano Hall.
Dance/Art artistic director Dale Scholl choreographed two of the pieces - "Bubblegum Fantasies," about the break-up of the Jackson Five, and the spiritual work "Moved." Choreographer-in-residence Eric Vianelle will present "Movin' Down the Line," a piece about everlasting love. And company member Johnathan Cameron offers his take on the legacy of Diana Ross with "Downside of a Diva."
Tickets are $15 general, $12 for students and seniors, and $8 for children 12 and under and are available by calling (916) 451-3732.
