University joins sustainability effort
Sac State has joined 90 other college and university campuses in a pilot program designed to create national standards for environmental sustainability in higher education.

Partnership to boost technology ranks

Sac State is embarking on an innovative partnership with Folsom Lake College to produce a greater population of highly qualified computer science and information technology professionals. It comes in the face of growing demand for such workers from employers in the region and elsewhere.

Festival celebrates the art
Sac State presents an array of artistic events that traverse disciplines and departments with the annual “Festival of the Arts,” a four-day lineup of performances, exhibitions, lectures and readings from the University’s Art, Design, English, Music and Theatre and Dance departments, March 12-15.

Women’s History Month unites women
A hero can be a presidential contender or professor, a mother or grandmother, or a combination of any of these. During the month of March, heroes in all forms will be recognized as Sac State’s Women’s Resource Center celebrates Women’s History Month with an array of educational events highlighting women’s history, culture and achievements.

Dangerous Lorraines intertwines artistic outlets
Sacramento’s Dangerous Lorraines DanceTheater creates contemporary theatrical dance works that aren’t so much dangerous as they are unpredictable. Sac State professor and Dangerous Lorraines artistic director and choreographer Melissa Wynn says, “The Lorraines part is my alter-ego, what goes on in my head. The dangerous part is you don’t really know what’s going to come out.”

Hornets Nest floor named for Colberg
Debby Colberg won’t be on the sidelines of the Hornets Nest coaching the Sac State volleyball squad this fall, but future Hornet teams will compete on a floor bearing her name. Beginning in the fall, Sac State volleyball and basketball teams will play their home games on Colberg Court.

Men and women both win team titles
Track and field has always been a sport measured by fractions of an inch or a split second. No where was that more evident than at the 2008 Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships where the Sac State men’s and women’s team won both team titles by one point.

Gymnast ties school record
Senior Melissa Genovese tied the school record on beam and finished first on floor as Sac State defeated 15th-ranked Southern Utah on Feb. 15. The final score allowed the team to defeat its highest-ranked opponent in school history.
