Sac
State and the California Broadcasters Association co-hosted the
only live statewide debate between candidates Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
and State Treasurer Phil Angelides on Saturday, Oct. 7.

bond on state ballot
When
voters in Sacramento and across the state go to the polls on Nov.
7, among numerous candidates and measures to consider will be Proposition
1D, the Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond
Act of 2006. Passage of Prop. 1D would allow the state to sell $10.4
billion in general obligation bonds of which higher education facilities
would receive $3.1 billion.

This
year, Sacramento State’s Theatre and Dance Department celebrates
its 50th anniversary with a host of performances, lectures and forums
that celebrate the dramatic arts, beginning with The Crucible’s
reappearance on campus. The performances are through Oct. 29.

A
gala performance and keynote address by American composer and virtuoso
pianist Frederic Rzewski will launch the 2006 Festival of New American
Music at Sacramento State Nov. 2 through Nov. 12.

Volleyball
sweeps UC Davis
Senior Atlee Hubbard led the Hornets with 17 kills and senior Kristin
Lutes tallied a match-high 29 digs to lead Sacramento State to a
three-game sweep (30-25, 30-26, 30-27) of UC Davis in a non-conference
volleyball match Oct. 17.

Basketball getting ready
Fresh off a season in which the team set a program Div. I record
(1991-pres.) with 15 victories and advanced to the Big Sky Conference
Tournament for the fourth-consecutive season, the Sacramento State
men’s basketball team kicked off the new season with its first
practice Oct. 13.

records in Cross Country
All 18 Sacramento State runners set or tied their personal bests
as the Hornets competed at the Bronco Invitational on Oct. 14. Dominic
Vogl led the men’s team by finishing 10th overall in 24:46.
