Agreement with Los Rios
Helps Transfer Students
An enhanced transfer agreement between CSUS and the Los Rios Community College District will go into effect this week, following a formal signing ceremony at Sacramento City College on Monday.
The primary goals of the agreement are to:
· Increase the transfer rate from Los Rios colleges to CSUS
· Increase the graduation rate of Los Rios students who transfer to CSUS
· Increase the college-going rate of students from targeted high schools, including those who are traditionally college-bound as well as those who may not consider college as a first option.
"This agreement will have a profound and positive impact of increasing the number of transfer students from the Los Rios District to CSUS," said President Donald R. Gerth. "The agreement builds upon the excellent relationship we have with the Los Rios Community Colleges by enhancing the current level of services for students and ensuring that students have the vital support they need to transfer to CSUS successfully."
Brice Harris, chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District, said, "The transfer of students to four-year colleges and universities is a major mission of the community colleges and our district has been a leader in this area for a long time. We have offered students guaranteed transfer to CSUS for many years and this enhanced agreement puts in place an even greater support system to help students transfer successfully."
Both Los Rios and CSUS are noted statewide for their achievement in working with transfer students. Both rank among the top statewide in the number of transfer students sent or accepted.
