Max Dashu Explores The
History of Witch Hunts
Max Dashu will give a fascinating lecture and slide talk on the persecution of witches at 11:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct 26 in the University Union's Hinde auditorium.
The presentation will explore the history of witchcraft and of the European persecutions during the inquisitional torture-trials. The program will specifically address the impact of the hunts on Western civilization.
Dashu is an independent historian and freelance teacher of international woman's studies. She founded the Suppressed Histories Archives in 1970 and since then has taken over 10,000 slides and created 80 slideshows on international women's history. She has presented slide talks at universities, bookstores, prisons, libraries and festivals.
Dashu has acted as historical consultant for a variety of projects including Donna Dietch's film, Woman to Woman and the San Francisco Woman's Building mural project.
The event is free and open to all students and community members.
