SEEwater 2013: the Sac State and USGS science showcase

SEEwater2013
Water is everywhere. It keeps our bodies alive. It drives the engines of our ecosystems and economies. It unites our communities and inspires our arts and traditions.

Our society’s understanding of water begins with science, and a wealth of water science experts and resources can be found right here in River City, on our Sacramento State campus.

Join us Wednesday, April 24, forSEEwater 2013: a Science and Engineering Expo on Water. This one-day public event is part of Sacramento State’s Earth Week celebration and one of many events supporting the University’s One World Initiative, whose 2013 theme is “Global Perspectives on Water”.

Students, faculty and the public are invited to our open house showcasing the best of aquatic sciences from Sacramento State and its campus partner, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Activities throughout the day include:

  • Demonstrations of high-tech gadgets and vehicles used in water science research
  • Career panel for students interested in the water sciences professions
  • Exhibit booths from government agencies and nonprofit organizations collaborating with Sac State on the stewardship of water resources and aquatic ecosystems
  • Sac State lecture on the California Environmental Legacy Project – a PBS documentary series in production
  • USGS lecture on “What Californians Need to Know About Climate Change: The Future of Water Supply, Flood Risk and Sea Level Rise”

California’s past, present and future is tied to our understanding of water resources. Come to SEEwater 2013 and discover what your Sacramento State community has to offer – to educate us and help us celebrate California’s water heritage.
