Why I'm Involved with C2S

As a student who has taken longer than the traditional 4-year college route, I have experienced a lot of ups and downs throughout my undergraduate years. I want to help students attain their goals and help them to be the best student they can possibly be in order to do so. Commit to Study gives students the opportunity to learn from their mistakes and how to overcome setbacks. Succeeding and graduating can be a collaborative effort and there is no shame in that.

Advice for Students

The only person you are competing with is yourself, avoid comparing yourself to other students and do your absolute best to find what works best for you as a student. Life can throw many curveballs and it is not about what life throws at you, but how you react to it and grow from it.

My Long Term Goals

To become a physician (currently interested in pediatrics) and be able to work in refugee camps around the world and help populations with limited access to healthcare.

Why I'm Involved with C2S

I am involved with the Commit to Study program because it can help me interact with people who are in a position where I have been and may need help exploring their options. I want to work with C2S so that we can make the transition of being a student much easier.  At the end of the day we are all in this together and at times we need someone to listen to us and lend a hand or point us towards the right direction.

Advice for Students

A piece of advice that I would like to share with other fellow students is, no matter how bad something goes or how difficult school may feel at times. Always remember that there are only 24 hours in a day, and the day must end and another day begin. This was told to me by my older brother when I was in High School, and I always remember it to help me continue in anything I set my mind to.

My Long Term Goals

I have always dreamed of becoming a Medical Doctor as an Anesthesiologist or Pediatrician. I also enjoy mathematics and would also like to be able to use that to keep people safe someday by working along with the Center of Disease Control and Prevention.

Why I'm Involved with C2S

Becoming a Commit to Study ambassadors was one of the greatest opportunities I have ever attained. One of the main reasons that pushed me to join C2S is that I wanted to influence others; I wanted to be a contributor to others’ success. For when I help others, not only they grow, but I grow too. I learn from others, just as they learn from me.

Advice for Students

If you know what you want to accomplish in life, stick to your goals no matter how long the path is.

My Long Term Goals

To become a dental surgeon, volunteer in refugee camp, and travel the world.

Why I'm Involved with C2S

I have been that student that has struggled in class, so I know what it feels like to not be on top of everything, but I have also learned that with time, and patience, anything is attainable if you set your mind to it. I would like to share my experiences with other students and help them see that nothing is impossible and that you can attain anything with a little bit of hard work.

Advice for Students

Take everything one day at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself with deadlines. Spread all your work out, and accomplish a little bit everyday. You can’t do everything all at once.

My Long Term Goals

To become a pharmacist.

Why I'm Involved with C2S

In doing C2S, not only would I be able to help my fellow peers with their school work but I would also gain an insight to improving my own work ethic. This program will allow me to help further develop my communication and leadership skills which are essential my goals of becoming a mathematics teacher for high school students.

Advice for Students

Always be a little open minded and a little skeptical when first being introduced to something.

My Long Term Goals

To become a math teacher for high school students and help them understand that mathematics is more than just about numbers.

Why I'm Involved with C2S

The Commit to study program offers a unique opportunity to help students learn and grow as individuals. By assuming an active role in this growth, I can forge connections with others, build applicable work skills, and even learn more about myself along the way.

Advice for Students

I believe that mistakes and hiccups on the path to our goals should not be viewed as failures, but as opportunities. Each mistake is a chance to analyze what could be improved in the future. Only when we consciously decide not to learn from our mistakes do we truly fail.

My Long Term Goals

I hope to graduate from Sac State with a degree in generalized biological sciences, and then apply for graduate school. My ultimate goal is to pursue a career in behavioral ecology.
