JAIME R. ALVAYAY, Ph.D.Dr. Alvayay is a Professor of Real Estate and Land Use at California State University, Sacramento, and Executive Director of the California State University – Real Estate & Land Use Institute (RELUI). He previously taught at the University of North Texas, the University of Texas, Arlington, and Central Western University, Venezuela. Courses taught include Housing and Mortgage Markets, Seminar in Mortgage-backed Securities, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Investments, Corporate Finance, Statistics, Linear Programming, and Microeconomics. His research interests include Housing and Urban Land Markets, Mortgage Markets and Financial Institutions, Corporate Finance, and Valuation of Real Assets. Dr. Alvayay's work has been published in Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Real Estate Literature, Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, Land Economics Review, Appraisal Review Journal, and Industrial Development Journal. His research has received awards from the Homer Hoyt Institute and the Industrial Development Research Council. Dr. Alvayay has worked with public sector organizations such as the Central Bank of Chile and the Central Western Regional Development Corporation in Venezuela. His private sector experiences include managerial positions with industrial and agricultural concerns and being vice-president and partner of a consulting company. He received degrees in Economics and Accounting from the University of Chile, a Master of Arts in Banking and Finance and a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of Georgia. Dr. Alvayay is a member of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA), the American Real Estate Society, and the International Real Estate Society. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International Real Estate Society, a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Real Estate Literature, International Section, and has served as referee for Real Estate Economics Journal, the Journal of Real Estate Research, and the Journal of Real Estate Literature. |
