How to Apply

International applicants to California State University Sacramento are required to:

It is recommended that you pay the non-refundable $55.00 application fee by credit card. Failure to pay the application fee will delay processing of application.

Please note:

  • failure to submit supplemental documents will result in the delay of processing your application. An instruction sheet is included in the forms
  • The U.S. government requires your name on your application and on your passport to be identical.
  • Be sure that all of your academic records and other documents have this name on them. If names differ, please provide evidence of name change, such as a marriage certificate.

If you choose to apply using the paper application, you must submit with the application the non-refundable $55.00 ( US currency) application fee payable to California State University, Sacramento Click here to print the paper application.

Checks must be drawn off a US bank and include electronically readable micro-encoding.

This fee is non-refundable and can not be deferred or waived.

2. Results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. Click here for details regarding testing.
3. Submission of all supporting documents and test scores must be submitted by the document deadline in order for students to be considered for admission.  Documents submitted after this date may not be reviewed even though graduate departments may have deadlines beyond the published International Admission document deadline.

4. Submission of the Financial Statement Form (pdf) is available for printout and must be submitted as soon as possible. Complete, sign and return the form, along with documentation (bank statement) supporting your resources. The form must show that you have the minimum funds available for one academic year (Undergraduates: $23,729; Graduates: $22,337). It is not required that you submit the form at the same time as the application; however, it is recommended in order to expedite processing. Your visa papers cannot be issued until this document is received.

Undergraduate Students

Spring 2008 Admission - California State University Sacramento is accepting undergraduate applications with fee and all required documents for spring 2008 admission beginning August 1 and closing November 1. Applications will be accepted from first-time freshman, sophomores, upper division transfers and Second Baccalaureate.

Fall 2008 Admission - California State University Sacramento is accepting applications with fee and all required documents for fall 2008 admission from undergraduate students starting on October 1, 2007. Although no application and documents deadline has been set for fall 2008, we strongly recommend that applications and documents be submitted before November 30, 2007, the close of the initial filing period.

Graduate Students

Spring 2008 Admission - California State University Sacramento is accepting graduate applications with fee and all required documents for spring 2008 starting August 1 with individual departments and programs closing October 1. Deadlines may vary, please contact the International Admissions office for more information. No documents will be accepted after the International Admission deadline date.

Fall 2008 Admission - California State University Sacramento is accepting applications with fee and all required documents for fall 2008 admission from graduate students starting on October 1, 2007. Although no application and documents deadline has been set for Fall 2008, we strongly recommend that you contact the International Admissions office for more information. Deadlines may vary, please contact the International Admissions office for more information. No documents will be accepted after the International Admission deadline date.

Important tips:

  • You must indicate a major and be degree-seeking
  • Be sure to list your email address on the application
  • Applicants are encouraged to submit their application, fee and documents before the deadline date to ensure consideration
  • Undergraduate international students are not admitted to the Nursing program and the Interior and Graphic Design programs
  • I-20’s cannot be issued to non-degree seeking applicants.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

International Students (are those who hold or will require F-1 Visas) applying while in the U.S. or overseas to Undergraduate and Graduate programs must request that all official Academic Records i.e. (transcripts/marks, diplomas/degree certificates) be mailed directly from their high school/secondary, college/university to the International Admission Office to be considered official.
