Jack Godwin, Director of the Office of Global Education

Jack Godwin, Chief International Officer and Director of the Office of Global Education

Jack Godwin is a political scientist and author with decades of experience in business, government and higher education. He began his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon, West Africa. He has a doctorate from the University of Hawaii, and degrees from San Francisco State University and the University of California, Berkeley. He is a four-time Fulbright scholar to Britain, Germany, Hungary and Japan, and a fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar in Austria.

Janis Silvers, Study Abroad Advisor

Janis Silvers,  Coordinator, Study Abroad

Janis has been involved in study abroad advising and administration in the Office of Global Education for over 20 years. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Social Work at California State University, Long Beach. She studied in Spain during 1991 and currently enjoys traveling and learning from other cultures and places. She considers the best part of her job to be the time she spends advising and meeting with students.

Lori Harrison, Admin Assistant

Lori Harrison, Office Manager

Lori has been with the Office of Global Education for 10 years. She enjoys working with students who wish to study abroad as well as those who are from outside the United States and wish to study at Sacramento State.

Eric Merchant, Coordinator, International Students/Programs

Eric Merchant, Associate Director of the Office of Global Education

Eric has been involved in international education activities at California State University, Sacramento (Sacramento State) for more than thirty years. He received his MA (International Affairs) from Sacramento State in 1980 and his BA in 1976. He has lived and traveled overseas extensively. He is fluent in French and has some knowledge of German.

Tracey Culbertson, International Student Advisor

Tracey Culbertson, Coordinator of International Students & Scholars

In the 90s Tracey began her international career by studying abroad in Germany and Australia, and then began promoting Study Abroad Programs professionally. In 2002, Tracey began working in the OGE as an F-1 international student advisor. While continuing her F1 advising, she became the primary advisor for the J exchange / non-degree student and the J international research scholar programs in 2009. Tracey graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a BA in English & German Literature and Indiana University, Bloomington with a MS in Higher Education and Student Affairs. In addition to studying abroad she has travelled widely throughout Europe and North America.

Availability: Generally available on a walk-in basis.

Mlima Wells, International Admissions Coordinator

Mlima Morrison, International Admissions, Coordinator

Ms. Morrison has been working for the university for over fifteen years and is an alumna of California State University Sacramento.

Monday through Wednesday 1p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday 10:00 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Visitors may wish to call the International Admissions office on the day of their visit to confirm exact availability.

Caroline Peretti

Caroline Peretti, International Admissions Specialist

Caroline began working in the international field over 20 years ago as an intern in Santiago, Chile. After graduating from the University of California, Davis with a BA in International Relations, she worked for a global company based in San Francisco. In 2008, she began working as an International Student Advisor at the English Language Institute at California State University, Sacramento, and in 2011 she transferred to the International Admissions office. Caroline has traveled and lived abroad from an early age, and she has worked and studied in South America and Europe. She is fluent in Spanish.

Availability: Monday through Wednesday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Josef Preciado

Josef Preciado, International Admissions Counselor

Josef began his international experience by studying abroad in Mexico and also worked with political refugees and asylum seekers at a non-profit organization in Spain. He received his BA from UC Santa Cruz in Latin American Latino Studies and Community Studies with an emphasis in Immigration and Social Justice. Josef has been travelling overseas for many years and is passionate about learning from people and cultures around the world. He began working at California State University, Sacramento in 2008 with the office of Admissions and Outreach and in 2011 transferred to the International Admissions office. He is fluent in Spanish and is learning Mandarin Chinese.

Our office is closed for 1 hour for lunch
