"Hornet Talk”: Words & Phrases
Add/Drop Petition: A form available from an academic department. This petition, once signed by the professor of a course, will allow the department to add or drop your enrollment of a course. Useful if the course is listed as full and you are not able to add using My Sac State.
ASI: Associate Students Incorporated
Causeway Classic: Annual football game against rival UC Davis (usually in September / October).
“To Crash a Course”: To attend a class after the semester begins in hopes that the professor will sign an “Add Form” and add you to the course list.
GE: General Education (Undergraduate and 2nd Bachelors students)
“Herky the Hornet”: Campus Mascot
Hornet Express: Campus Shuttle Bus
Light Rail: Rail system in Sacramento operated by Sacramento Regional Transit (Ride free with your Student One Card).
“My SacState”: Central site for student information, registration, address changes and other services.
OGE: Office of Global Education
OGE List: Office of Global Education email list – you will receive immigration and campus updates periodically from our office. Please keep us updated with your current email address.
One Card: Official student identification card – use at the library, campus eateries, city buses and athletics events.
PTF: Payroll Transaction Form. If you find an on campus job you will receive a PTF form to bring to the OGE for approval.
Sacramento State: The nickname of California State University, Sacramento.
Saclink: Campus Internet and email system available to all students. You will use your “Saclink” account to access “My SacState”.
SEVIS: Student & Exchange Visitor Information System.
SID: Student Identification Number (used on campus only).
SSN: Social Security Number
State Hornet: Campus Student Newspaper
WPE: Writing Proficiency Exam which all students must successfully complete prior to graduation.
