General Information
Thank you for your interest in California State University, Sacramento. Sacramento State is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University System, the largest senior public system of higher education in the United States. Our University seeks to maintain a balanced program with students from countries around the world while assisting sponsored students from developing countries to enroll in appropriate programs. Currently, international students from over 100 countries attend the University. Sacramento State University enrolls approximately 500 international students in a total student population of approximately 28,000.
The University offers a wide range of academic programs leading to bachelor's and master's degrees in the liberal arts, sciences and professional level disciplines. There are no doctoral programs. Sacramento State also offers a comprehensive teacher preparation program and the pre-professional undergraduate preparation necessary for post-baccalaureate enrollment in health science and law schools. Sacramento State is fully accredited by the Western Association of School-Colleges Association. Two-thirds of the faculty, which numbers more than 1,000, hold doctorate degrees.
Sacramento State is on the early semester plan with fall classes beginning in early September and ending in mid-December and spring classes beginning in late January and ending in mid-May. A comprehensive summer session, on and off-campus courses, and various institute, workshop and travel-study courses complement the regular academic year programs.
Located 90 miles from San Francisco, Sacramento has warm summers and mild winters. Most major airlines serve the Sacramento International Airport. Interstate bus lines also serve the area. Inter-city transportation is provided by Regional Transit buses and a Light Rail system.

ATTENTION Spring 2010 Applicants
In accordance with CSU policy recently imposed, California State University Sacramento will not be accepting international admission applications (all undergraduate and graduate categories-freshman, transfer, Second Bachelors, Graduate) and all post-baccalaureate for Spring 2010.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their application before the deadline date to ensure consideration. Be aware that dates are subject to change without notice.
Undergraduate international students are not eligible to apply for Interior Design, Graphic Design and the Nursing Programs.

**Please note: Some graduate departments require a higher score. (For example, English and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages requires 600/250/100). You must contact the Department for score.
Note: California State University Sacramento interprets “where English was the principal language of instruction” to mean that a school is located in a country where English is the native language (the daily medium of communication of the majority of residents is English), and that the students receive academic instruction in all subjects (except foreign language courses) at all levels of education in English.
FINANCIAL
STATEMENT
A
confidential statement is required providing documented
evidence that you possess sufficient funds (approximately
$22,699 to $24,025 for a full year) to cover expenses without financial
assistance from the University. The money must be guaranteed
and not anticipated. Verification of bank accounts by bank
authorities are acceptable. Financial Aid and scholarships
are not available to international students.
REQUIRED
PLACEMENT TESTS
Sacramento State requires
new undergraduate students to be tested in English (English
Placement Test - EPT) and mathematics (Entry Level Mathematics
Test - ELM) prior to enrollment. These are not admission tests
but determine eligibility to enroll in specific courses. Students
may be exempt from EPT and ELM based on prior coursework or
standardized test results. The International Admissions Office
will notify you if you are required to take the tests.

ADMISSION
STATUS
The admission decision
is made when all documents are
received. About one month after the
required documents have been received, applicants
who have been admitted will be sent a letter
of admission and an SEVIS I-20 form or SEVIS
DS-2019 form as appropriate (to obtain
F-1 or J-1 visa). Applicants who are not
admitted will be notified.
VISA REGULATIONS
It
is essential that applicants comply with the government regulations
of their home country as well as with those of the United Sates.
International students are required to register each semester for
a full-time program of studies (minimum 12 semester units
for undergraduates and 9 semester units for graduate students).

HOUSING
The
Housing Office can provide information regarding available off-campus
housing. The University also has
six residence halls which accommodate 1,300 students. The residence
halls are frequently filled to capacity and early application is
strongly advised. For information about cost, meal plans, and dates

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
Test
for tuberculosis is required. A health insurance policy, or evidence
of equivalent medical protection valid in the United States is also
required. Beginning Fall 1986, all new and readmitted students born
after January 1, 1957 are required to show proof of immunity to Measles
and Rubella.

offered, is contained in the University Catalog. The catalog is
available by mail (or in person) at the Hornet Bookstore, 6000
J Street, Sacramento, CA 95819-6055. The Cost for mailing in the
United States is $8.50; cost of mailing outside of the U.S. will
vary depending on destination.
