Books:
Financial Aid for Study and Training Abroad, Schlachter and Weber
Financial Aid for Research and Creative Activities Abroad, Schlachter and Weber
The Registry of Grants
Foundation Grants to Individuals
Other approaches:
Community organizations that relate culturally to the country to which you are applying
Your major department on campus may have small grants
Financial Aid at Sacramento State
Companies for which you and your parents work
Organizations to which you and your parents belong
Step 1: Know your goals.
Step 2: Locate a program or resources that match your goals.
Step 3: Talk to an advisor at Office of Global Education (perhaps as part of Step 2).
Step 4: Find scholarships that meet your goals.
Step 5: Research the program (or resources) thoroughly.
Step 6: Print a blank application so that as you do your research you can write in your information. By the time you begin the final application process, you should have all the information you need.
Step 7: When you are ready, begin to write your proposal. If a second essay on the program is required, begin to write that also. Keep feasibility in mind, especially when writing research proposals.
Step 8: Get an advisor within you major to read your proposal. For scholarships for which Jack Godwin is the university representative, he will also read the proposal drafts.
Step 9: Talk to potential faculty for references.
Step 10: Order transcripts, if needed for the program and/or scholarship application(s).
Step 11: When the proposal is finalized, give reference forms and a copy of your proposal to faculty members. This enables faculty to do an excellent job of writing letters of recommendation.
Step 12: Complete the other parts of the application and meet the deadline. In other words, budget your time.
