The theme for the 2013-14 academic year was Global Perspectives on Migration
Water is a fundamental necessity for all life and it "flows" through almost every aspect of society. Water brings life, and yet too much water, in the form of floods or tsunami, can also bring death and destruction. The drive to provide enough water for the global population has led to advances in technology and engineering. Our future water needs may lead to conflict and war. Water in the atomosphere drives our weather, providing the fuel for tropical storms and hurricanes. Water is an integral part of many religions and has inspired art, film, music, literature, and dance.
