The One World Initiative's inaugural year features the campus-wide theme "Global Perspectives on Water."

The Sacramento State Aquatic Center is a regional boating instruction safety center as part of a program funded by the California Department of Boating and Waterways.

The theme of water is multidiciplinary: It emerges in science, literature and arts courses and programs across campus.

Students interact with community partners through internships and other hands-on learning opportunities to help bring real-world solutions to the Sacramento region.

The campus celebrated the end of the successful first year of the One World Initiative on April 29th in the University Union. The End-of-Year celebration featured a student symposium in which over 30 students presented work related to the theme of water, a faculty round-table discussion, and a special keynote address by Maude Barlow, renowned environmental and social justice activist, and author of Blue Covenant: The Global Water Crisis and the Coming Battle for the Right to Water.
