Since our founding in 1977, CCPH has held a position as a leading advocate for California's history and historical resources and as an effective networking organization for all of California's public history professionals. Our members are what makes our organization a diverse, dynamic, and effective advocate for California's unique heritage. CCPH provides the forum where professional historians, curators, archeologists, interpreters, archivists, preservationists, historical organizations, and advocationalists can communicate and share ideas.

CCPH provides leadership for these diverse interests through the California History Action newsletter, an annual conference, Register of Professional Historians, statewide awards, mini-grants, and support to those individuals, groups, and organizations dedicated to California's history and historical resources.
