Kingdoms of Life - I : The Microscopic World

Description:

Students examine bacteria, protozoa, single-celled organisms, algae, slime molds, and fungi. Through lectures, classroom demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory activities, students discover the world of microscopic organisms. Compound microscopes and dissecting stereomicroscopes are used throughout the course. Student evaluation is based on writing assignments; attendance; class participation; and the completion of a class notebook.

This course is recommended for 1 unit of high school science credit.

 

Course Description: Biology : Kingdoms Of Life - II : The Plantae and Animalia

Course Description:

This course examines the Kingdoms Plantae and Animalia . Their major subdivisions are studied through lecture and a variety of laboratory experiences. Both kingdoms are explored using mostly living but many preserved and prepared specimens. Included are dissections, discussions and demonstrations of adaptions and habitats.

Students will take field trips to the CSUS Greenhouses and the Vertebrate Museum.

This course is recommended for 1 unit of high school science credit.
