Accessing
the Standards through Mathematical Reasoning - Would you
like a teacher’s professional development workshop to model teaching
in an engaging way, to create in you the same enthusiasm about learning
we all endeavor to create in our students? Would you like to spend some
quality time with other professionals as we analyze both the learning
and the teaching each day of the program, rekindling that which moved
each of us originally to become teachers? Would you like work together
with other teachers near your grade level to trace the conceptual development
of the toughest topics to teach for understanding like fractions or place
value or negative exponents? Would you like to deepen your own understanding
of some of the trickiest mathematical topics? Would you like to have FUN
networking with other area teachers learning mathematics and talking about
teaching? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, the 10th annual Invitational Institute is for you. Special attention is paid to the use of questioning strategies to reach higher levels of mathematical reasoning. Opportunities to analyze and to reflect about the questions used are provided through our modeling of supportive peer coaching. Teachers will find this instiute challenging to both the learners and the teachers in themselves. More information coming soon! Back to HOME
