REVEREND DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. CELEBRATION, HIS LASTING VALUES: EQUITY, JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS 

40th anniversary Celebration of Dr. King's speech to Sacramento State on October 16, 1967 10 am: Welcome by University; Noon-1:45 pm: panel discussion with Clayborne Carson, faculty, students, community leaders, "'Beyond Vietnam" The Peace, the Pious, and the Poor"; 2:15-3:45 pm: panel discussion with Juan Williams, faculty, students, community leaders,  "1967- 1968: Before and After 'Beyond Vietnam', The Media, the Speech, Dr. King, and the Future of Civil Rights  Movement"; 6:30 pm -9 pm: Keynote speeches by Dr. Clayborne Carson and Juan Williams, drama by Department of Theatre & Dance, music by Sacramento Metropolitan Community Choir and MLKJ Mass Choir, with emcees Irene West and Dennis Mangers, plus dance by Sacramento Black Art of Dance, recollections of 1967 campus visit, tributes to Sacramento State's leadership on civil rights throughout the years, & more!
