Guiding Principles
The purpose of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. shall be to open doors of opportunity to the Latinas of our community. Our primary focus is Academic Excellence while meeting the needs of Latina women in higher education. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. also promotes the advancement of Latinas through various campus activities and community services, and provides an environment for personal growth within a unit of Sisterhood. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc.'s priorities, however, will be placed upon Academic Excellence and Community Service.

Does your group host culturally based programs?Every academic year all Chapters of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. host a conference at their respective Universities which brings middle school and high school female students from around the community to take part in a day filled with workshops and motivational speakers. This event is known as The Latina Youth Leadership Conference (LYLC) and its purpose is to encourage these young women to pursue a College education and to become leaders within the community.
Community Service and Philanthropy
What is the community service, philanthropy, or cause that your organization most frequently supports? Encouraging Latinas in middle school and high school to pursue a higher education and participating with the Latino community. We also give scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is given to those ladies who exemplify the ideals of the sorority and is continuing to a four-year institution of higher education.
What program(s) or event(s) does your organization at Sacramento State coordinate to support the community service, philanthropy, or cause mentioned above? Tijeras Program, In 2001, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. created the Tijeras (scissors) Program which has become our National philanthropy. This program was specifically created as a means to cut through obstacles in order to enhance educational opportunities for Latinos. The Tijeras Program encompasses all community services conducted by our individual Chapters including the Latina Youth Leadership Program (LYLC) which focuses on Latina Leadership, as well raising money for non-profit organizations which promote Latino Literacy. In addition, all Chapters also award Scholarships to Latina high school students.
