Does your group host culturally based programs? Every Academic year we host a program in which middle school and high school teenage girl students around the area are invited. This event is known as Latina Youth Leadership Conference (LYLC) in which students get encouraged to go to college and to become future leaders in our community through several workshops provided.
Community Service and Philanthropy
What is the community service, philanthropy, or cause that your organization most frequently supports? Encouraging Latinas in middle school and high school to pursue a higher education and participating with the Latino community. We also give scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is given to those ladies who exemplify the ideals of the sorority and is continuing to a four-year institution of higher education.
What program(s) or event(s) does your organization at Sacramento State coordinate to support the community service, philanthropy, or cause mentioned above? Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc.-Zeta Chapter organizes, facilitates and sponsors an annual Latina Youth Leadership Conference (LYLC) for junior high and high school females around the Sacramento area. Our goal is to increase awareness of higher education, leadership skills development, self-esteem enhancement, respect and cultural pride.
