About the Sac State ITE Chapter
The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is a registered student organization at California State University, Sacramento founded to promote the education and professional development of students interested in transportation engineering and planning. This organization introduces the many facets of transportation engineering by inviting speakers or by visiting agencies and project locations. ITE also strengthens the transportation engineering program at Sac State by encouraging active participation in local transportation issues. ITE members have opportunities to improve their technical and communications skills through professional and social settings.
The CSUS Chapter was originally chartered in 1991 and has always enjoyed a close relationship local area industry professionals as well as the professional Northern California ITE Section. Today, our Chapter is one of the largest student chapters in the country, averaging around 50 members each of the past two years. Our chapter has benefited from the general interest in transportation and has been bolstered by support from local transportation firms, who have a need to hire new entry-level transportation engineers and planners. Our Chapter is comprised of both graduate and undergraduate students, which also provides a unique opportunity for interaction among all individuals interested in the transportation field.
