Copper
Fabrication and repousse
"Copper boxes made for each of my daughters, Sierra and Angela. Each box has their name and birthday in repousse style on the lid. Sierra's lid has a silver wire flower and butterfly that was sweat soldered, and also a rind made of copper wire. Angela's box has reverse repousse for her birthday, and a handcrafted hinged lid. The sides of each box have a repousse design reflecting their ages in the number of stars, with a flower and moon they both decided they wanted. The other side has an image depicting the personality of the child. Sierra's has her "child's drawing" she always drew, and Angela's is a star, because that is what she liked. On the end of the boxes are their first letter initials. These boxes were challenging in that I wanted to keep the integrity of the box and wanted the quality of the designs to be apparent. The surface treatment has heat treating for the shades of oxidation, and also some blackener."
