"Moon Sun Pendant"
2" x 1 1/4"
22-gauge sterling silver and fire opal
Cutting, piercing, and soldering with bezel setting
"One of my very first pieces, reflecting my celestial motif. I cut both the crescent moon and the partial shape of the sun with flames, using a jeweler's saw. I textured the moon with a ball peen hammer, giving the impression of craters; the sun textured with bent steel wire hammered into the surface. The surface is oxidized both chemically and with time. I placed a fire opal in the center, with its colors representing a galaxy. The bail is also handcrafted to allow a variety of chains; I have chosen a satin choker to wear. I love this piece and wear it everyday."
