Repousse and fabrication
"The brooch started out as a work piece for repousse. The shapes were arranged to give the impression of a person with hands on hips. For me this signifies two things: the response I at times see from my children when they are resistant to something, or the stance I take when I am being firm and directive with them. This piece also has a bit of a feminist aspect. The woman depicted shows a strong, no nonsense persona."
