"Before I began the project I was able to look at examples of professional enamel pieces in some books and I wanted to try to imitate their complexity. When I created the design I was inspired by church stained glass windows and wanted my piece to resemble them. The most important thing about the colors was that I wanted them to be symmetrically balanced. I also wanted a balance between light and dark colors with a diverse color selection. What's interesting about the piece is that the symmetry line of the square is not a typical down the middle or diagonal from the end points. It is a combination of the two with the symmetry line being diagonal in the center, which isn't normally a way a square is cut in half."
