"I started on the middle piece, and I ended up with 5 pieces. This is a Chinese scene, which represents me as Chinese. I did a couple sketching of the middle pieceÑthe girl kisses a bird and kneeled on the rock. Right side 1 is frog that sits on the rock and takes a break and look at the sky. The sky was blending with river. Right 2 is my favorite plant that stands on river with different sizes and lengths. Left 1 is cat that tries to catch something on the air. The cat also stands on the rock. Left 2 is lotus flower that stands on the creek and on the right side has another small lotus to create a foreground and background. Kiln is most difficult equipment in the metal lab because it takes a couple of minutes to warm up and during the process I could not leave the enamel piece inside the kiln because it will burn out the enamel. Before I started my enamel pieces, I did do some experiments on copper. The background of the sky and creek was a challenge by bending two colors together as watercolor. The enamel is totally different from watercolor because if two enamel colors mixed together, these colors would not look like watercolor mixture. This set took me almost one year to finish. I am happy with them."
