At the level of the inferior colliculus.


A horizontal section of the midbrain showing the decussation of the superior cerebellar peduncle.
The decussation pushes the lateral lemniscus out lateral and the anteriolateral tract is pushed out
posteriolaterally. The inferior colliculus, periaqueductal gray matter, and the
substantia nigra are large cell clusters in this region.
