FORUMS

Spring 2010

Following the afternoon seminars each Friday, an "open forum" is held from 3-4 p.m.  The Forum features invited speakers of note who share their views with members, followed by lively question and answer sessions. The locations vary depending on CSUS availability, so check below.

Feb. 12: Richard Shek – China as an Emerging Power - Friend or Foe to the U.S.?

Feb. 19: Sister Libby Fernandez – Sacramento’s Homeless.

March 12: Richard Lewis – Run Away to the Circus

The executive producer of California Musical Theatre, AKA the Music Circus, will outline this summer’s entertainment lineup.

March 26: Deborah Niemeier – Can You Feel the Heat?

This professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Davis and director of the UC Davis-Caltrans Air Quality Project will discuss global warming. Dr. Niemeier's current research focuses on characterizing greenhouse gas emissions and energy flows in complex systems. The research group also works in the area of transportation - vehicle emissions modeling at local and regional scales, including evaluating the connections between transportation and air quality policy.  (photo from Aldo Leopold Leadership Program, Stanford University)

April 9: Alexander Gonzalez: The State of the University.

Dr. Gonzalez, CSUS’ president, will explain why the state’s budget woes won’t break CSUS or the CSU system.  

April 16: Anne Rudin – The Strong Mayor Initiative
