The Renaissance
Scholarship
The
Renaissance Society has presented scholarships to worthy CSUS
students since 1993. The Renaissance Board of Directors voted
in 2007 to increase the scholarship amount to $1,500,
effective with the 2008 awards.

Yalung, who is 55, is pursuing his second
career, seeking a masters of social work. In his native
Philippines, he received a degree in philosophy and worked
with special needs children. He also received a gerontology
certificate from American River College. He wants to work with
Sacramento's homeless, particularly seniors.
Gaither is a music major and trumpet player
who is interested in music education, performing, audio
engineering and math. He believes "music can help heal a
tender heart at any age." He performs with several CSUS
bands.
Figueroa is carrying a double major in
psychology and film studies. He wants to create films to help
people understand themselves and how to be human. He is doing
research in stereotyping in films and would like to do films
about seniors.
