Membership

Look around these pages to find out what the Renaissance Society is all about. Interested in joining?

Most Renaissance Society memberships go from July 1 to June 30 and cost $80 (an optional CSUS parking pass for Fridays and Saturdays is $20). Spring-only memberships (Jan. 1 to June 30) are also available for $45 (parking $10).

You have two options for signing up for either renewal or new memberships and parking permits for the full 2016-2017 year:

  • Online, with a credit card payment.
  • The paper way, mailing an application and check to the Renaissance Office. NOTE: There are two different forms, for new and renewal memberships!

If you have questions after reading all the information below or are having problems, please call the office (see contact information to the right).

ONLINE MEMBERSHIP AND PARKING: please read all the information below before clicking on the link to sign up!

Here is the link for the online membership and parking registration, both for new and returning members.

This link will take you to the system and walk you through the process. You will be able to sign up for a membership plus optional parking pass on a single form with one credit card transaction. The system will be asking for credit card info to make the payment, but will not retain credit card info once the transaction completes. We will be going to great pains to make sure all of your online data is safe and secure.

NEW MEMBERS: You will be asked to provide your mailing address, phone number and email address, all important for receiving Renaissance communications. You will also be asked to list an emergency contact. Have this information handy, as well as your credit card. Once you have registered, you will get a confirmation email.

RETURNING MEMBERS: Have your current membership card handy as you will need your membership number. Add RS before the six-digit number on the card, i.e., RS777777); you also will be able to look your membership number up on that site. You will be able to update any of your information (address, phone, email, emergency contacts). Once you have registered, you will get a confirmation email.

SOME TIPS: Type in your credit card number all together (no dashes or spaces). For the expiration date, type the month (such as 07 for July), the system will automatically insert a dash, then you can type the year in four numbers (such as 2017).

PAPER AND MAIL SYSTEM: Note there are SEPARATE FORMS for returning and new memberships! Each form covers both membership and the optional parking pass and you only need to write a single check. Read carefully before you fill one out and mail it in!

FOR RETURNING MEMBERS: USE THIS RENEWAL FORM!

FOR NEW MEMBERS: USE THIS NEW MEMBER FORM!

You can print out a form, fill it out and mail it and your check to the office (address on the form and also above right).

No matter how you sign up or renew, once you are on the 2016-17 membership rolls, you will be mailed your membership card and parking pass. Renewing members will keep the same membership number as long as you are a member.

In August, you will get a catalog listing the fall classes. At that time, you will be able to sign up for seminars, either online or by calling or emailing the leaders. For more information on seminar registration, check the Seminars page in early August.

If you are a new member, plan to attend our Introduction to the Renaissance Society on Friday, Aug. 26, 9 a.m., in Hinde Auditorium on the first floor of the CSUS University Union. You will learn all about how Renaissance works!

Both new and returning members can also attend the Rendezvous that day at 12 noon in the Ballrooms near Hinde for information about all the fall seminars and programs. You can also sign up for seminars at the Rendezvous.

Classes begin on Sept. 2 and end Dec. 2. Look at the Calendar for details about the semester schedule.

Any Renaissance Society member who turns 90 before July 1 is eligible for Honorary Membership and no longer has to pay membership dues. Contact the office about this.
