• The Davis NCASM student chapter and SALS held a regional meeting with two great speakers - NCASM guests Nancy McClenny, MT (ASCP), MPA, spoke on "Fungi in the Clinical Laboratory: The Tip of the Iceberg" and Mark Wheelis, PhD, spoke about "Bioterrorism: Threat or Hype?"  Spring 2001.
• NCASM Fall 2001 Assembly in Concord CA.
• The Davis NCASM student chapter hosted the Spring 02 regional meeting. Guest speakers included our very own Dr. Robert Metcalf who spoke on his continuing work with Solar Cookers of America and his famous Cook-It design and Betty Hummert, from the Ca. Dept. of Health Services, who spoke on the Laboratory Diagnosis of Malaria.
• Spring 2002 SALS Career Forum held in the University Union.  Over 8 professional representatives were in attendance providing students with detailed information on professional fields and opportunities.
• NCASM Spring 2002 Assembly in Santa Clara California.  This years topic was the World of Mycology!
• Fall 2002 NCASM Assembly in Concord California. Over 30 CSUS Students attended this event!  Our own Dr. Robert Metcalf was invited to speak once again on his work. It was a full house!
• SALS hosts the Spring 03' Regional Evening Meeting Titled:  Emergent Viral Issues: Small Pox, Newcastle and SARS. We had two outstanding guest speaks that night: Evan Skworansk Ph.D, who spoke on the Molecular Diagnostics of Emerging Infectious Diseases: Exotic Newcastle Disease Experience in California and Trevor Shoemaker, who spoke on  Planning the California Smallpox Vaccination Program: Recommendations and Reactions. Over 50 guests were in attendance!!
• NCASM Spring 2003 Assembly in Santa Clara.  This years topic was the ABCs of PCR and Molecular Diagnostic Tools.
• Tour of the California Department of Food & Agriculture, Agricultural Microbiology Laboratory.  An excellent tour lead by Dan Mills, Ph.D (the laboratory director) and a SALS member/student Jessica Salenski!! April 2003.
