Sanskruti celebrates following festivals with great enthusiasm and participation of all Indian students.
Ganesh Chaturthi:
Traditionally held to be Ganesha’s birthday, the Chaturthi day itself falls on the 4th day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada (August-September). Then it is proceded over a ten days of pujas and cultural programs. The festivities culminate with the Ganesha Visarjan on tenth day also known as Anant Chaturdashi.
Navratri:
The 9 nights festival of Navratri begins on the first day of Ashwina of the bright fortnight (September-October). For nine days Goddess Durga, Vijayashtami and Mahanavami are worshipped. The 10th day- Dussera which is celebrated as the victory of lord Rama over Ravana.
During these days students participate in pujas. Sanskruti also organizes vibrant “Garba, Dandiya-raas & Bhangra” night at CSUS.
Diwali:
It is a five days festival(October-November). The first day is known as Dhanteras. Dhan-puja is organized by students on that day. The second and third days are Kalichaudas and Diwali. The forth day is a New Year accoding to Indian calendar. Students get together in their beautiful traditional dresses and wish each other Happy and prosperous New Year. Indian food and refreshments are served by the group. The last day is Bhaiya dooj.
Fresher welcome party:
Every semester welcome party is organized for new students. It includes interaction among new and senior students, entertainment programs and refreshments. The aim of this event is to make new students comfortable new environment and provide them necessary guidance.
