ACADEMICS
The academic portion of your university career is a significant determinant in your future
success. The primary purpose of the fraternity system is to encourage and develop high
scholastic achievement among its members. Just over 50% of students end up graduating.
However, fraternity members have over a 70% graduation rate. SigEp is no different; we all
strive to reach our own academic goals, and with the help of the fraternity and the
brothers, it is much easier to accomplish. What makes SigEp different from all
others on our campus is our grade policy and scholarship program. SigEp has by far
achieved the highest GPA of all fraternities on campus and is the only
fraternity over the all-campus average.
ATHLETICS
Fraternities participate in many competitive sports through intramural events. There
are also many other athletic events we participate in outside of intramurals such as
broomball, active-alumni football games and other spontaneous events. SigEp are the
two-time defending Greek League Softball Champions and year after year is at or near the
top of the standings in Greek Week and All-Campus Athletic standings. Winning Greek Week
in 1996 and finished 3rd overall this past year out of 12 fraternities. Look for SigEp to
be the favorite to win Greek Week and the All-Campus athletic championship for 1998-1999
with all our athletes returning and new recruits strengthening our teams.
SOCIAL
Another major part of College and the Greek System is social life. SigEp offers
its members one of the strongest social calendars in the Greek system. We have social
events with sororities, participate in all sorority philanthropy contests and athletic
events, build strong brotherhood through road trips to other chapters throughout
California and the Nation, and participate in the largest Greek events such as Greek Ski
in Reno and All-Greek Spring Break trip in Mexico, each with a total of approximately
5,000 college students.
LEADERSHIP
While in a fraternity many take on leadership positions, whether it be an officer,
committee head, or just a participant. You will learn how to run meetings, speak in
public, motivate others, and other skills that help mold people into leaders. Since it
takes more than a degree to get a job, these leadership skills can help you get a job.
SigEp has had the past two Director of Business positions, is currently Director of KSSU
(the student run radio station), IFC President and hold 3 of the 7 officer positions on
IFC (the governing body of the Fraternities at CSUS), and a SigEp has won the Sac State
Greek Man of the Year award each of the past 3 years.

BROTHERHOOD
Brotherhood is what truly sets fraternities apart from other organizations. As a brother,
the friendships which are formed are unlike those found in any other organization. The
brothers of Sig Ep hold the cardinal principle of Brotherly Love sacred. Our brothers are
there for each other in times of trouble and celebrate together in times of joy.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
On a resume, community service is looked highly upon. However, without a fraternity it is
much harder to become involved in these projects. We are committed to helping and
improving the community in which we live. We have done this through projects such as
teaming up with a sorority to take kids to the zoo or decorating children's hospitals for
Halloween.
NETWORKING
It has been said that a college degree is not worth as much as it used to be. SigEp is a
perfect way to add on to a resume and to gain acquaintances while looking for a job.
Contacts such as other brothers and alumni would allow you to get ahead in the job world.
