Where are the Others?
and (CSU, Sacramento)
In an attempt to discover a reason why many minorities have shied away from the field of Anthropology, surveys at 3–5 different college campus in California will attempt to gather enough data which will produce statistical information where many minorities are concentrating their studies and their feelings towards the field of Anthropology. This short research project will hopefully gather enough data which may later be utilized for long term research with ethnographic prowess.
Minorities tend to be studied in Anthropology; however there seem to be very few minorities themselves in Anthropology. Who better to give the world the insights of a world than those already within it? In many publications of ethnographic studies, the ethnographer stands out like a sore thumb in the culture they are studying. If one of that culture is properly trained in Anthropology, they would be able to gather more intimate information pertaining to that culture. It is for this reason that more minorities should be shown the value of Anthropology and why we need to the reasoning behind minorities going into other majors.
