2007Aug 4 The second annual Tommy Kono Open. Katherine Redcher-Bowling won the 69kg class and Veronica Gozar-Carpenterplaced 2nd in the 53kg class. Ben Claridad had PRs to total 255 and take 3rd in the 105kg class. John Redito also PRd for a 5th place finish in the 85kg class with a 186 total. Fernando Rodriguez also had a 10kg snatch and total PR.3 New lifters had a great day - Andrew Schweitzer totaled 210 in the 94kg class earning 4th, Thein Thach took 5th in the 94s with a 166, and Chris Claridad totaled 142kgs for 7th place in the 85kg class. Claridad competed in the Men's 105kg Class lifting 115kgs in the Snatch, and a PR of 132kgs in the Clean & Jerk for a new PR total of 247kgs. Donte Morris took 2nd in the 62kg class with 117kgs followed by Dominic Morris in 3rd with a PR total of 116kgs. Ben Claridad took 2nd place in the 105kg class with a total of 237kgs, including a new PR Clean and Jerk of 130kgs!Aug 5th Team Sacramento competed in the inaugural Tommy Kono Iron Dragon Open at Sacramento High School. Nadine Nouchi took 3rd place in the 58kg class with a 100kg total. Katherine Redcher-Bowling won the 69kg class with a 157kg total and the Outstanding Female Lifter award. Jackie Mah went for some big numbers in the 75kg class and snatched 70kgs, but did not total. Micheal Mullins won the 85kg class with a 250kg total. Fernando Rodriquez took 4th in the 85kg class with a 155kg total. Paul Bowling returned to action with a 227kg total in the 105kg class for 2nd place. Ben Claridad took 3rd in the 105s with 214kg total weighing in just over the 94kg mark. Keith Jukes made a new PR total of 200kgs for 5th place in the 105+kg class. It was very exciting to have so many lifters come up from So Cal as well as Baja California, MEX! Veronica Carpenter took 2nd in the 53kg class with a total of 114. Jackie Mah won the 75kg class with a 159kg total. Fernando Rodriguez had several PRs to take 4th in the 85kg class with a 155kg total. Keith Jukes also made several PRs for a 7th place finish in a very tough 105+kg class with a total of 180kgs. Complete Results Slide show May 20 Team Sacramento took 2nd place at the Nor Cal in SF! Ben Claridad won 1st in the 105kg class with a snatch of 100kgs, and C&J of 115kgs for a new total of 215kgs. In their first competition Fernando Rodriquez and Keith Jukes both took 2nd place in their weight classes! Veronica Gozar-Carpenter took 1st in the 53kg class with a 52kg snatch, 63kg C&J for a 115kg total. Kathy Redcher-Bowling took 1st in the 69kg class with a snatch of 67kg and a C&J of 90kgs for a total of 157kgs. April 21 The legend, Tommy Kono, gave us a clinic on lifting technique. He was able to give each of us something to use to immediately improve our technique. He is no doubt an expert lifter, but he is also an expert coach and extremely generous in his time and knowledge. We are so greatful for his visit. Group photo. April 7-9 Michael Mullins won the 85kg class in the 40-44 year old division of the US National Master's Championship in El Paso, TX. Micheal snatched 110kgs and clean & jerked 143kgs for a 253kg total. With this outstanding Clean & Jerk of 143kgs Micheal has set a new National Record! Resuts. March 19 Team Sacramento took 3rd place at the Pacific Weightlifting Association Championships in San Francisco. Veronica Carpenter won the 53kg class with a 126kg total. 8 year old Antonio Caravalho went 6 for 6 in his first meet totaling 47.5kgs. Master lifter Michael Mullins took second in the 85kg class in preparation for the National Masters Championships. Jeremy Ogzewalla took 4th place in the masters division, and Mark Saldana took 7th with a PR snatch. Junior lifter Benjamin Claridad took 2nd in the mens 105 kgs class with a PR total of 200kgs, qualifing him for the Collegiate National Championships. First time lifter Ben Claridad took 4th place in the 105kg open class as well as 3rd place Junior with 177.5kg total! Ron Wollenberg took 3rd place in the 105kg open class as well as 3rd place master with a 212.5kg total. Mark Saldana took 3rd place in the 69kg with a 130kg total. Jackie Mah won first place in the 75kg class with an outstanding 160kg total. Kathy Redcher-Bowling won first place in the 69kg class with a 150 total. ResultsAug 7 - Victor Hall won first place in the 77kg class at the No Guts. July 22-29 - Michael Mullins and Ron Wollenburg represented Team Sacramento and the USA at the World Masters Games. Michael Mullins took 3rd place in the 94kg class! Results. July 2 - High Desert Open, Reno Ron Wollenberg wins the 105+ class. June 5 - Nor Cal Open at Velocity San Carlos May 23 - Jump Camp Classic at FIT Fitness in Los Altos Hills Mar 17 - Ron Wollenberg Won 2nd place in the Men's 50-54 age group, 105kg class at the National Masters Championships. Mike Mullins suffered a hamstring injury. Results. Mar 12 - PWA Championships. Andrew Coe took 5th in the 85kg class with a 167.5 total. Congratulations to Jason Stowers for setting a new PWA record in the snatch with 140kgs. This was Jason's last competition as a member of Team Sacramento. He has moved on to his own club, Black Iron Barbell. Coach Kutzer has also left to assist Jason. We wish them the best of luck. Results May 15 - Team Sacramento won the Women's and Men's competition as well as Outstanding Junior and Outstanding Female lifter awards at the CA State Weightlifting Championships at CSUS. Kyle Hasapes took 6th in the 69kg class, Justin Campbell took 7th with a PR in the 105kg class, Athan Putnum made 3 PRs, Al Williams, and Jared Kashiwabara also represented the team coached by Brett Kelley. CSUS now has a 5 lifters going to the Collegiate Nationals. The Collegiate National Team is: Kyle Hasapes, Athan Putnum, Jared Kashiwaba, Al Williams, and Justin Campbell. Christina Shamas, Katherine Redcher Bowling, Ron Wollenberg, Josh Glass, and Scott Salwasser also competed. March 12-14 - Team Sacramento lifters: Letty Sunseri, Katherine Redcher Bowling, Darcy Kellum, and Jason Stowers competed at US Nationals in Merriville, IN. Redcher Bowling took the Bronze and qualified for the Olympic Teams Trials on May 7 in St. Joseph, MO. Sunseri earned 4th place in the 48kgs class and Kellum took 7th in the 69kg class. February 7 - Team Sacramento Falls to Sports Palace again with only 8 of 47 team members attending the competition.
