The public affairs office shares the University's story with the media, the public and the campus community itself.
Public affairs is charged with protecting and promoting the reputation of the University, and with explaining to the general public the core values and academic goals of the University. It accomplishes this through a variety of communication vehicles targeting campus and off-campus audiences.
Public affairs carries out plans and strategies in:
Message management (visual and written)
Crisis communications
Public/community relations
Media relations
Publications development and design
Promotions/publicity
Special identity packages
Events management
Visitor services
Protocol and VIP services
Marketing and advertising
The units within public affairs are:
The University ceremonies and visitor services office, coordinates graduation ceremonies for each of the University's seven Colleges, and handles other special ceremonies such as the annual Honors Convocation. The office runs the visitors center in Sacramento Hall. It also arranges VIP tours and runs the student hosts program, which coordinates student representatives for high profile-events.

The Sacramento State Ticket Office, is the central source for tickets to all Sacramento State events. The office is also a Tickets.com center, selling tickets to events throughout Northern California and Nevada. For more, call (916) 278-4323.
The news services office pursues positive media coverage of the University, responds to media inquiries and arranges interviews for reporters seeking the expertise of University professors.
