Alternate transportation

Sacramento State is located on 300 acres conveniently located just 6 miles from the state capital. Bordered by highway 50, the American River and J Street, providing a variety of transportation options for students, faculty and staff. Whether walking, biking or making use of public transportation you will find that our campus is easily accessible.

Walking
The American River Parkway bike path is a good option for students who live in the surrounding area along La Riviera Drive and Howe Avenue. Remember to practice safety first, be aware of your surroundings and walk with a buddy when possible.

Biking
If yPhoto of bicyclist in Alumni Groveou choose to bike to campus, there are two bicycle compounds available free of charge to students and faculty. Compound 1 is located near the Guy West Bridge in front of Riverside Hall. Compound 2 is located just west of Amador Hall near the Baseball Field. Bike lockers are also available for rent on a first-come first-serve basis through the Peak Adventures office. Peak Adventures can be reached at (916) 278-6321.

Public Transportation
The Sacramento Regional Transit District provides transportation through the city bus and light rail. All buses and light rail trains are wheelchair accessible and have a wheelchair securement area on board. Regional Transit has also made, mass transit bicycle friendly, by providing bike racks on buses and trains.

American River Parkway - The Jedediah Smith Memorial Bicycle Trail runs along 32 miles of parkway from Old Sacramento past Sacramento State, to Folsom Lake.

Regional Transit
Bus routes 30, 31, 34, 79, 82 and 87 make stops at the Sacramento State Transit Center located at the north end of campus.

Light Rail runs south to Meadowview Road, East to Matherfield Road through downtown and North to Watt and I-80. Passengers can catch a bus connection to the Sacramento State at the 65th Street Station.

Yolo Bus
Visitors coming from West Sacramento, Davis or Woodland can access the Yolo Bus Line to downtown Sacramento and then take Bus Route 30 or 31 to the Sacramento State Transit Center.
