Message to the Campus from President Alexander Gonzalez (7/31/09)

To All Members of the Campus Community:

With the signing of the state budget and some hard work by everyone in assessing where the campus is financially, we now know the scope of the challenges we face to balance the campus budget.

When everything is taken into account for the 2009-10 fiscal year, including costs, student fee increases and furloughs, we currently have a deficit of approximately $16 million for Sacramento State. I met with the University Budget Advisory Committee again today, and we are already working on how we will close this deficit.

Additionally, I am holding a campus town hall meeting at noon on Aug. 6 in the Hinde Auditorium to share as much information as we can.
