Message to the Campus from President Alexander Gonzalez (8/13/09)
To All Members of the Campus Community:
I want to thank everyone who attended or watched last week’s town hall meeting. The conversation was productive, and we appreciate the feedback as we deal with these unprecedented budget reductions.
We are now working to implement the University Budget Advisory Committee’s recommendations. As I said at the town hall, the numbers can shift on us quickly, but for now, we are looking at a 6.31 percent reduction for campus divisions.
The news could have been much worse if not for the previous cuts we have made and the furloughs. Our first campus-wide furlough day went very smoothly, and I appreciate everyone’s cooperation and diligence.
Future updates from me may not come weekly as our budget situation has settled for the moment, but I will continue to keep you posted on any new developments. Thank you again for your outstanding work during a very busy summer for all of us.
Sincerely,
Alexander Gonzalez
President
