Sacramento State’s Division of Nursing took the first step in its transition to Folsom Hall with some spring classes and orientation sessions held in the facility. The video features University President Alexander Gonzalez speaking with students in the NURS 138: Nursing the Childrearing Family class to get their feedback about Folsom Hall.
“I want to say thanks,” said one nursing student. “We’ll have a lot of space for new and incoming students…thanks for doing that.”
“Having a facility that has enough room, that the staff can do different things in different areas, is not only invaluable to us as students but also for patients in the community,” said nursing student Riann Insogna.
The former CalSTRS building on Folsom Boulevard, acquired by University Enterprises, Inc. in 2007, will become the new home for the Division of Nursing this year. The 188,000 square foot building will house academic and auxiliary programs.
The Division of Nursing plans to move the lion’s share of El Dorado Hall’s classroom equipment, office furniture and other items in Folsom Hall throughout the year to provide more classroom space and run simulation labs in the upcoming semesters.
“We do wonderful things with what we have,” said Nursing professor Dr. Brenda Hanson-Smith. “I think it’s going to be astronomically better when we are all able to get moved over here.”
